Farewell, Dave Jamieson

Dave Jamieson died, aged 76. He had been part of Boom sinbce the beginnning.
Born in Edinburgh, Dave’s broadcasting career stretched back to his mid-teens at hospital radio. He played a part in the early days of BBC local radio – at its first station in Leicester – and even guested on the Radio 1 Club. He was also on-air at BBC Scotland.
In commercial radio, he appeared on Birmingham’s BRMB and helped to launch both Radio Clyde in Glasgow and Coventry’s Mercia Sound. He was also on Day One of Hull’s Viking Radio hosting a programme called ‘Noticeboard’. Radio Tees and Heart also were home to Dave’s talents.
On TV in the ‘70s, Dave was an announcer out-of vision on ATV, then moving to Central. During the day, its school programmes were networked so Dave’s voice was heard across the UK.

Dave moved to live in Spain some years ago - in Nerja on southern Spain's Costa del Sol - although his many friends often went to visit. He is fondly remembered by them all – as he is by his listeners over the years.
Dave was part of the launch of Boom Radio in 2021, agreeing without hesitation to join his old friends Les Ross, Graham Torrington, Andy Marriott, Ron Coles, Quentin Howard and Phil Riley to play his part in our plans. With his love and knowledge of music and his enthusiasm and commitment to Boom, he was a valued member of the team from afar for five years on the Saturday breakfast show initially, before moving to Sundays. He is much-missed.
